I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Pittsburgh, PA) in Sep 2023
Interview
I applied online, 12 days later I was contacted for an interview. During this interview we just went through my resume. I was told that I should hear back about next steps in a week or so. A month and 3 days later I was contacted for another interview. It was a similar interview as the first one and I was told again that I should hear back within a week. 3 days later I was congratulated as I was moving to the next stage of interviews. I was asked for my availability, I gave them times that work for me. They then said they would talk with the team about the times and decide on one and will send out a calendar invite. I never received a calendar invite, and 16 days later I got a generic rejection email.
One on-campus interview. About a 2 month period following the interview before notified about decision. There were two 30 minute interview sessions where you sat down one on one with a member of the Caterpillar team. The interviewers were nice. It was very structured.

Tell me about a time when you failed and how did you overcome it
I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Caterpillar (West Lafayette, IN) in Sep 2011
Interview
I applied through my college job posting site and via the company website. I got a response the next day to have a interview in my college the next week. It was a one on one interview (the only one needed to get the job). The interview was mostly basic questions. They had a list of questions from their roster. Only 6 of them were asked since it was a 30 minute interview. These questions were mostly determined two things, if they want to hire you and if so what location will you be of use the most.
