I interviewed at Caterpillar (San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí)
Interview
muy sencillo la verdad es que me gusto y fue bueno, recomiendo mucho y la verdad es una grandísima oportunidad. suena como que es una empresa muy bien preparada y se respira el ambiente
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Decatur, IL) in Feb 2022
Interview
One of the worst interviews I've had to go through, it actually left me surprised.
Process started with an email -- no screener call -- with a teams invite saying "Ok thanks for applying, here's your interview time and date, see you then." There was no prior call or discussion of the interview time, if it worked for me or any kind of phone screen at all. Just an assumed date and time that they thought was ok to schedule me on while I'm currently working. Email back saying that the time they sent didn't work for me, and got a call from the HR recruiter for them with a TV blaring in the background and kids screaming at 7 or 8PM.
I was invested in the punishment, I had to see if the next step was the same.
It was.
I got on the new teams invite with 4-5 people. They immediately start giving me the 3rd degree about how every question they ask needs to be broken up into some particular answer format "when we ask the question...explain the problem, the identifying solution, impact, and then a conclusion - if you don't answer in this format you will be asked the question again." We haven't even talked about my resume or roles at all, just straight into the questions. You couldn't tailor any past experience to the question format, if you did it was non-lateral. There was no give or take to the questions or how the role would work, what your experiences were or seemingly ANY interest from anyone's face from the very beginning. It was a complete waste of everyone's time.
After going through the grilling, they left 2 minutes for me to ask questions before the hour was up. I asked generic questions that I hadn't gotten answers to yet.
1)Budget -- Dodged question "Thats an HR problem"
2)Whats the measures of success? -- "We just want someone to come in and help our process from plant to plant logistics" OK??????
3)Why is this role open? Did the previous person get promoted? "No, if that's all -- thanks for your time."
Yikes.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me a time you solved a problem
Tell me a time you have a hard choice about personnel
30 mins, two interviewers, behavioral questions. Just a normal first round interview, they asked stuff about dealing with customers and accommodating their needs, and how you were able to make changes to their requirements.
