      Strategic Partnerships Interview

      May 29, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cameo (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2019

      Interview

Online resume/application with cover letter, logic/personality test, phone screen, two in-person interviews The cover letter isn't required but I highly suggest doing it if you want to be on the Strategic Partnerships, Account Executive, or Talent Relations teams. They are only taking talent that clearly demonstrates pop culture knowledge, driven attitude that tackles challenges with gusto, and a record of going above and beyond for clients and business partners. The logic/personality test is pretty standard for Chicago tech startups, however, if you don't take it seriously (doing it in suboptimal conditions with lots of distraction) you most likely won't move forward (according to others who've applied that I talked to who didn't make it through). It's just another way to weed out people who seriously want to be at Cameo vs. people who just want a job. The in-person interview was interesting. I met with 5-6 team members-- not all in leadership but all leaders on the team. It was obvious they were looking for a culture fit and to debunk my resume. Make sure to demonstrate how you accomplished everything at your previous roles and how it relates to the position you are applying for at Cameo. The one thing they reiterated multiple times is that this is high volume sales. And if you are like me, at a previous role with an assigned book of business and strategic accounts, you have to break your mindset and get creative with who and how you are reaching out to talent. All in all, this team is awesome. You become a better contributor if everyone around you is better than you. The team is collaborative and shares their strengths to minimize any weaknesses and that's going to get us far. Good luck on your own interview process and hope to see you soon!

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cameo (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2020

      Interview

All remote video calls due to Covid 19. First interview within two days of application submission, followed by four more interviews including last one with COO. They were great throughout the process: responsive, scheduling interviews promptly each day. Questions mostly about my extensive experience as I was clearly qualified, perhaps overqualified for the position. Rejected, not seen as the right "fit" despite years of pertinent and industry specific experience. Must be said: Hard not to think decision was driven by my age. I am older than every person I met with, some by many years.

      Interview

The interview process was extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Interviewer did not call me at our scheduled time. She ended up TEXTING me 15 minutes later and asked if I was still available. The questions were all focused around what celebrities I knew, it felt like clout chasing.

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Cameo (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2020

      Interview

Perhaps I went into this interview with the wrong impression, but I originally assumed this position was more about talent management; however, upon going through the interview process, it was clear the company was obviously just looking for someone who could connect them with A-list talent without having to go through actual management channels. When I admitted this did not sound like the position for me, they then offered me a finders fee percentage deal on money made by anybody that I sent them. Again - maybe I didn't "get it", but I couldn't quite understand how somebody who had the massive talent roster they were looking for access to wouldn't already just be working at a top-tier agency instead?
