I applied through a recruiter. He got back with me quickly and setup the interview with Cytonome. He was a veteran in other recruiting fields but new to the technical field. He'd called me a number of times before the interview, including immediately prior to give some tips. These tips I thought were unhelpful. While at Cytonome, I met with their HR person, one optical engineer, and the VP for R&D. Cytonome has two engineers working on the optics and one was leaving. In general their engineering is a small operation and they'd been working contracts for a particular company in Texas, I believe. They were looking to build on an optical idea they had and take the company in two directions. The optical engineer remaining interviewed me and he'd be the the one who'd ultimately decide on the hire and who I'd be working with. He asked about the oldest experiences on my resume first, though not the most relevant to the position. I also met the VP for R&D and just briefly spoke about the company and more about what they were looking for in this role; he was French. Then I spoke with their HR person, who was quite nice, about what to expect next if the hire went through. She'd said I'd hear back in a week but I never heard back from Cytonome.
