I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at CTRL-labs (New York, NY) in Nov 2021
Interview
It was fair. I was referred by a friend. Then got a call from HR and set up an interview with a research scientist in the team. The call with HR was pretty common questions about your immigration status and why you are applying.
The interview with the research scientist in the team was 45 min zoom call, she asked about my research and explained about their team and what they do.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions were about machine learning and what you do if you have an imbalanced dataset, and some open-ended questions about their research challenges in the team.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at CTRL-labs
Interview
The COO was just too busy to schedule my interview. This company has some smart people working for them, but it also reeks of of unprofessionalism. Maybe the COO should just retire or go back to handling cooks and busboys at his restaurants.

Question 1
Do you want to work for a company that has no respects for candidates?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CTRL-labs (Toronto, ON) in Sep 2018
Interview
Very disrespectful and unprofessional.
The COO (acting as the recruiter I guess) emailed me asking for my availability for a phone interview. After 3 weeks of emailing and bouncing dates to chat (as he took a week to answer each message), he finally picks a schedule that he never confirmed back (to be fair). On that day I waited for his call but it never came. Messaged back (twice) to ask about that and never received any reply!
I can understand you can be super busy but answering people you messaged in the first place, is the bare minimum in a professional environment. If you don't have time, hand the task to others who have. If you are not interested in a candidate anymore let her/him know; candidates have jobs and lives too and nobody wants to waste time waiting for nothing.
