I interviewed for a senior marketing role at BirchStreet and connected with multiple stakeholders across four rounds—including the CMO, CEO, and sales leadership. While the conversations themselves were thoughtful and engaging, the process between each step was frustratingly slow and unclear. I would routinely go weeks—almost a month—without ANY communication or updates, even after reaching out.
The recruiter was apologetic and transparent about the internal delays, but ultimately, the disorganization and lack of follow-through made it impossible to stay excited or confident about the opportunity.
For a leadership role, you’d expect a certain level of urgency and professionalism. Instead, the entire process felt like an afterthought. I ended up withdrawing from consideration because the cadence and communication style were red flags about how the company likely operates day to day.
Advice to Management:
If you’re going to engage senior-level candidates, respect their time. Long periods of silence and indecision send a clear message about internal dysfunction. Be clear about your process, your timeline, and your expectations—or risk losing strong candidates.
