1. Recruiter Screen.
2. Manager screen:
Talked a lot about things I had on my resume. Where they are and where they are looking to get. It seems like a good match. Talked about terraform, kubernetes, on-call, sre stuff etc.
He said he'll proceed me to the next stage. I was a long wait and they finally scheduled interviews after a month.
3.1
Interviewed with 2 interviewers. Both were great. Talked about kubernetes, coding etc. There was supposed to be a debugging session but they could not get k8s cluster up. So we just discussed the issue and I provided them debugging strategies. Lots of k8s stuff again. It went well.
3.2 : Interviews with 2 folks from the team. The guy was talking over the girl most of the time and cut her off repeatedly. He wanted to do system design but had no way to draw anything. I sent them an excalidraw link and we worked on it. It was a simply webapp and he kept added scenarios to scale it and strategies to solve the issue. He did not know when to stop because, he would keep saying this is the last question and go on to ask 5 more. At times I had to get him to clarify certain things because what he was looking for was not the question he asked. He was very opinionated and said things like Ansible is garbage but he won't hold it against me because I was from company X. (80B $ company). Seems odd coming from someone working in a 40yr old company with barely half billion in revenue. Anyways I did not let it get to me and completed the interview. It went well.
The recruiter called me and said they are adding another 1 hr long behavioral round. At this point I had an offer from another company paying significantly more, so I withdrew from running.
Everyone including the recruiter (except that one guy mentioned above) was very professional and great to work with.
