I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bellway in Jun 2025
Interview
The entire process was done online. After passing the initial one-sided interview stage, I attended an online assessment centre. It was split into 3 activities: a presentation (prepared in advance), a group activity, and a one-on-one interview with one of the assessors. The entire process felt quite casual, and the employees in attendance were all very friendly. Unfortunately, they were only recruiting for one spot for my area.

Question 1
- Tell me about a time something didn't go to plan, and how did I adapt to the situation?
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Bellway (Leicester, England) in Jun 2025
Interview
I attended a face to face interview with Bellway Homes, where I met with three senior team members. From the outset, something felt off. One of the interviewers did not speak at all during the session, which made the dynamic quite uncomfortable and added no real value to the conversation.
The person leading the interview opened by describing the company as having a "family feel," which immediately raised a red flag for me. While he used a lot of corporate buzzwords like "home in," there was very little substance to what was actually being said. When I asked about their employee reviews on Glassdoor, I received a deflection. He responded by talking about customer feedback instead, showing a lack of awareness or care for how the company is perceived by its own staff.
Despite being told I would hear back within a week, I received no update at all. I eventually emailed to withdraw and acknowledged that I likely did not get the role, but even then I received no reply. Not even a basic courtesy email.
The job market is incredibly tough right now and the least a company can do is treat people with respect and communicate clearly. Unfortunately, this experience showed poor internal culture and even worse candidate care. If this is how they treat prospective employees, it does not give much confidence in how they support existing ones.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bellway in Jun 2024
Interview
The interview process was fairly standard, including an initial screening followed by a main interview with both the Sales Director and Sales Office Manager to assess my suitability and experience.
