      Marketing Associate Interview

      Apr 21, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Green Bay, WI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bay Industries (Green Bay, WI) in Mar 2018

      Interview

I applied for the position late January/Early February 2018. Shortly after I received the "We went with another applicant" email. Ok. That's ok. You win some, you lose some. But then the following day, the position was posted again on their Facebook and job sites. I was confused. Didn't they just say they hired someone else? THEN a couple weeks later I received communication asking for a phone interview. Oh....ok....I'm still confused. But cool. Sure. Did the phone interview and it went very well, I felt. I am qualified, I'm currently doing the job they're looking for, and we had a few good laughs. So I felt confident. So I wasn't surprised when I received communication asking for an in person interview. Awesome! I went in for the in-person interview and it was basically a re-hash of the phone interview, but with an additional person. Again, it went well. I gave examples, I answered all the questions, we had a few commonalities, and good laughs. However, I did feel a little uneasy about their unsureness of the position exactly and what it would entail. It was a "new" position they were adding. So anyway, interview gets done and they say 'You'll hear from us soon". Ok cool. A week and a half go by and still nothing. Ok. That's ok. Sometimes these things take time. BUT THEN..........They REPOST the position on their Facebook and job sites again. WAIT WHAT??????? I never received any communication, and was told "you'll hear from us soon", but now they are REPOSTING it AGAIN????? So I waited another week. And still nothing. So I finally reached out as a follow up and asked them about the reposting of the position, and asked if they have decided not to pursue any of their candidates (including me). Their response? "Something came up that is delaying our decision. But we hope to make a decision by the end of the month." I'm sorry, but no. You are reposting the position, without even giving any communication to your applicants that you're rejecting. Common professional courtesy would tell you to communicate a rejection to your applicants first, not just repost the position and say nothing. To me, I feel they didn't like any of the applicants enough....so they're looking for possibly better. And IF they had to, they would offer the position to the next best thing. I'm sorry. I need a company who follows through on their communications, who respects people's time, provides professionalism, and is confident enough in my skills to hire me.
