Long interview process with two people interviewers. Who posed competency based questions around what the role of general manager would entail, to assess your strength and weaknesses would be in the role.They did not show me around the home.
Asked questions regarding Healthcare assistance, about Barchester homes, dignity and safe guarding. To talk about yourself and the reasons why you left previous job. Asked situation questions and how do you deal with aggressive behaviour.

Interview
I applied on line. Was then phoned up by someone who went through my cv with me, checking my credentials and experience, then met the Director of Recruitment at one of the care homes local to me who was disconcertingly informal. I then met with the Regional Ops Director and Senior Regional Ops Director who went into great detail about the home and its problems and plus points.

Question 1
They made it clear that the position needed someone who was a proven troubleshooter. They were very honest about the problems that the home had encountered in the past and the challenges it faced to get back on track. They really grilled me over what measures I would take to reverse the home's fortunes but there were no trick questions. I did need to demonstrate a really thorough understanding of CQC requirements and show that I had strong commercial and strategic skills.
