I applied to a job with Aveshka over a year ago and was recently contacted about a recent opening. The recruiter missed our first scheduled phone call and did not contact me until over an hour after they missed the call asking to push it back. We rescheduled the call for the following week and yet again the recruiter missed our call with no prior notice. However they responded to my email immediately after withdrawing my application saying they had been stuck in a meeting. I wasn't really interested in making a move with my current employer but figured I'd hear the recruiter out. Clearly this recruiter has no respect for people's time. Personally, after look at the reviews of the company I was iffy anyways and now I wouldn't consider applying to another position in the future due to this experience.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Aveska (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2013
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter based out of CA. She arranged a call for me with the EVP of Sales based out of Canada, but it took a while. Then set up a face to face meeting with the EVP at a local Starbucks. Really nice guy, but a little relaxed. Did not seem like a Senior Level Sales Leader. Asked some good questions, but had a very casual conversation. Told me he wanted to send me to HQ in Boston the following week. Communication became more spread out from that point and somewhat confusing. They contacted at the end of that week asking if I could fly down to Boston the coming Monday. I have a full time job and could not fly on such short notice. I didn't hear back from them for another week. Again they asked if I could fly down on short notice. I was able to this time, but I didn't hear back from them for another week!
Finally flew down to Boston almost a full month after the initial interview. They asked me to pay my own way, which was fishy, but I trusted that they were an honest company. I took a full day off of work to fly down. The only confirmed appointment I had was with the VP of Sales. I had to ask to speak with some others. I got an impromptu meeting with the VP of Delivery and that was it.
I got an email follow up from the EVP of Sales, but it's now been almost 2 weeks since the interview and I have not had another phone conversation with him. Clearly they weren't interested. They could have called sooner to let me know!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The VP Sales asked me how I would rank the following sales activities in order of importance:
- Qualification
- Relationship Building
- Pipeline Development
- Closing
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Aveska (Waltham, MA) in Jul 2012
Interview
The interview experience was parochial at best. The hiring manager came to the interview unprepared and late. I was asked for a copy of my resume and I am pretty sure it was the first time he saw it. We spent most of the interview reviewing my resume, from my college experience through the first 5 years of my work experience. The portions of my professional experience that actually pertained specifically to the position, (i.e. FM/GRC, ERP and Security) weren’t really reviewed at all.
The meeting lasted approximately 60 minutes and the last 10-15 minutes consisted of a Q&A session. Some of the questions that I posed were as follows:
• Why do you lose deals?
• What praise/criticism would your top ranking employees have of you?
• What praise/criticism would your lower ranking employees have of you?
• Now that you’ve been with the company for a few years now, what advice would you give yourself about transitioning successfully into this company and culture?
The questions, I thought would be fairly easy to answer and may require some thought, but I didn’t expect responses to them like “let’s focus on you.” I understand that in business we all have our off days. I also understand that a brand is built one day at a time. However, for this interviewer, I have to say that the experience, from what I’ve read and have been told is a best in class Identity and Access Management Company, was surprisingly underwhelming.
