      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Austin, TX) in Sep 2017

      Interview

A recruiter reached out to me for an informal interview, then a second with the senior recruiter. I had one phone screen with the hiring manager and then an onsite (five interviewers) with the HM, peers, and engineers. The questions focused on experience with deep probing, with a couple of textbook questions (three strengths and three areas of development). For this role the focus was on customer relationships, developing team members, and process improvement. Everyone was professional and the downtown office real nice. I was given their decision within two business days.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Bengaluru) in Jan 2020

      Interview

There was an initial telephonic discussion where the recruiter and me had a good 30 mins conversation on various topics including "why am trying opportunities outside the organization". It was a good set of questions as recruiter wanted to have a wholesome understanding about me, the candidate. Subsequently a face-to-face interview was scheduled. Reached 20 minutes early but interview did not initiate till a couple of calls to recruiter while I waited in the reception. During the interview, for over 40 mins interviewers went over and over again with the reason to leave current organization. It did not leave time for the other important topics related to people management or the like. Didn't enjoy the interview experience especially when both the interviewers were themselves less than one year old in the system and should be open to respect one's reason for change. Even if interviewer is unsatisfied with candidate response, we must move on to various other aspects as it gives us scope to analyze the candidate from various angles. At sharp 60 minutes, they decided to end the interview since it was time up.

Q: Why are you looking for a change ? Q: Why did you leave the previous organization ? Q: What is the assurance that you'll continue in Atlassian ? Q: What is your team composition ? Q: What is the typical designation of the team members ?
