The hiring manager approached me on LinkedIn messaging and we scheduled a call and a subsequent in person interview with the team on site. During the meeting with the team, the controller asked me point blank what my salary desired was for the role, after they mentioned this role would be “growing” and weren’t clear that it was an in office 9-5 PM cold calling members on the phone position until being on site. Why on earth would this position not be able to be completed hybrid or remote is beyond me. I asked what the budget was for this role and they didn’t have one as it was a “new role.” Red flag. After a great interview I came back with my salary range, the hiring manager then confirmed that the pleasure was theirs and they had a few more interviews to do and would get back to me. I heard back yesterday that while my background and credentials were a fit, they didn’t “sense” sincere enthusiasm for the role. And I asked for more feedback, and was told the team felt they had more chemistry with other candidates and the team felt that I wasn’t “overly excited” for the role. Something that isn’t even measurable. How excited does someone have to be for an interview for a potential job that a company does not even have a salary budgeted for…and puts candidates
on the hot seat for their desired range with three strangers. I then looked at their Glassdoor reviews and saw the writing on the wall. Just take a look and you’ll see their culture and you’ll understand that this is just a facade of an organization pretending to be “cool” when in doubt you can Google search tweets from their staff that confirm the former employees reviews. Dodged a bullet. I also tried to inform the founder who quickly and cowardly removed the linked in connection bc I’m sure he didn’t want to see the receipts I had. But if you are the founder of a company you can’t run and hide from the truth and sell an environment that it is false. I emailed it all to the company concierge as it’s just wrong to continue and operate like that in this day and age. The controller also mentioned “Kashy wouldn’t like texts to the members” like how does an accountant even understand people and customers? Stay in your lane of excel sheets and get a salary budget for a new position that you’re hiring for. Period. That’s the lane you need to be in not customer service or guest relations commentator with no real value add or solution commentary.
