      Graduate Engineer Interview

      Jan 30, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Arup (London, England) in Dec 2017

      Interview

Applied online and the first stage was a phone interview. The interview was based on finding out your response to possible situations that you might find yourself in if working there. The next stage was the assessment centre. The assessment centre lasted the entire day but only consisted of 2 activities, there was a lot of wasted time sitting around doing nothing. The morning consisted of a group activity that lasted 35-40 minutes; you were given a client brief and then asked to discuss this in relation to Arup's morals etc. In the afternoon I had a 1 hour 45 minute interview... The interview was very technical, even worse that some of the questions were related to my 1st/2nd year modules. It started off easy and increased in difficulty throughout. Make sure you understand any projects or work experience on your CV very well. I was asked to explain an old project technically. Overall I felt like I was sitting around waiting for 80% of the day and the interview was extremely intense (was no information about the length and type of interview). Also, the communication from Arup was very poor throughout the application process (the phone interviewer was 10 minutes late) and getting a reply to a question via email is non-existent.

      Interview

This is honestly the worst experience I have ever had with any company ever, no fault with the company but their hr team needs to get fired immediately. They completely wronged me last year for my internship applications and now they did the same for the graduate. Asked for feedback (which they offered in an email) about 5 times and was repeatedly ignored.
