I interviewed for a pre-sales related position. To be honest, I was disappointed that Adatao went ahead and contacted my references without first being sure if they wanted to give me an offer. This put me in an embarassing spot with my references. Generally speaking, reference checks are done after the candidate has verbally accepted the offer and decided to leave their current role. Now my references and network know that I am looking for a new role but have not been able to close on this offer. This is not the message I wanted to send to my network. My references are very valuable and it is awkward for me to reach out to them again for a second time. So I used up some personal favors for no real outcome.
I had a 30 min phone screen followed by an on-site interview. The interview process was professionally handled and I enjoyed meeting the Adatao team. After the on-site interview, I was emailed to provide 3 references without being given any specific details of the offer (or if there will be an offer). After several requests for providing compensation/offer details, all I was given were vague uncommitted ranges. Then I was told that the final offer will be put together after considering the 'data points' gathered from reference discussions. 2 of my 3 references were contacted and the 3rd reference was informed that the reference call is cancelled without an attempt to re-schedule the call. For the sake of professionalism, instead of abandoning the reference communication, I expected Adatao to at least follow through and talk to my 3rd reference briefly even if they chose to not offer the role to me.
Overall I had a negative recruitment experience with Adatao.
