      Software Developer Interview

      Sep 28, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Angi (Houston, TX) in Sep 2021

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted the same week by a recruiter for Angi. They spoke about an overview of the company, as well as position. First step was to complete an online coding assessment. This assessment was just a few questions, and is used in the first part of the interview process. The interview process I went through was split into 4 interviews, two on one day, two on the other. Given the length of this process, I appreciated that they split them across multiple days. The first interview was going over the assessment and explaining my thought process for how I answered my questions. This is pretty straightforward, especially if you have been studying these type of questions for a while. Second interview was behavioral questions. Basically you need to know SAR(Situation Action Result) and have a few good examples for these. Third interview was to design architecture for competitor to a popular application. I had to give basic db structure, as well as useful microservices. Fourth interview was with a manager over a department at Angi. They asked behavioral questions as well, so more SARs(Situation, Action, Result) as well as interest in role/company. I received my feedback after a weekend; my interviews took place thursday, and friday, and my feedback was received the following tuesday. While I didn't receive an offer, I am lacking in some of their requirements, I felt the process was positive. They were fast and to the point on feedback and I appreciated being able to speak about the process. I've had a lot of these interviews, and being able to receive feedback has been helpful.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Angi in Aug 2023

      Interview

One phone call to discuss interesting and ensure that experience was aligned with the role, timeline, citizenship, etc. Then performed a take home hacker rank assessment in a two hour window. Following successful completion of assessment was a 3 hr interview over zoom. 30 minutes to an hour was spent on each of the topics and a different interviewer conducted each topic: Code review of take home exam, API/Data/HTTP modeling, Eng Culture/soft skills, Eng Leadership/soft skills. Overall I was very impressed by the team, they were professional and kind. HR was faster in scheduling and communication than other companies I have interviewed with. It truly left a good impression on me, however the compensation was low for my area and I ultimately took a higher offer. Engineering org is 100% remote.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Angi

      Interview

Good communication from recruiter throughout the whole process. First step is a 30 minute phone screen, totally standard, typical background questions. Next stage is a take-home coding assessment. It's pretty straightforward, and you are given ample time to complete it. After that, there are about 4 hours of final round interviews, which can be split over two days. Culture fit, going over the take-home assignment, a design exercise, and a leadership meeting. They send you an overview that breaks down what to expect in each interview and links some helpful resources beforehand. I heard back with an offer about 3 days after the last interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Culture and leadership interviews are pretty typical behavioral questions. Design exercise was coming up with database table structure for a problem.
