I interviewed at American Political Science Association
Interview
The interview process was smooth, the people were friendly, made me feel comfortable. They asked relevant questions about my education, background was employment experience. The location and parking was somewhat difficult.
I applied online. I interviewed at American Political Science Association in Feb 2021
Interview
I applied online, had 2 one-on-one interviews. The interviews were easy as I have a lot of research experience that I can talk about. The two interviewers were nice and seemed excited to be hiring for this position. However, the job posting did not specify that this was actually a part-time role, and they blamed this on Indeed's website. The role would only move to full-time if they received a grant, which they could not guarantee. I did not mind and would have accepted the part-time position.
However, I sent 2 follow-up emails after the second interview and never heard back from the organization. This is highly unprofessional and turns me off from ever applying to work here again.

Question 1
What experience do you have with quantitative analysis software?
The process took 6 days. I interviewed at American Political Science Association (New York, NY)
Interview
The questions asked were pretty standard (why do you want to work here, ideal environment, strengths and weaknesses, etc.). What was not appreciated, however, was the behavior before and after the interview. They started off the interview saying how many people I was competing against and that you'd only get a second interview if you were in the Top 2. I think that is a very unprofessional way to begin and dehumanizes the experience. They see the interview as purely a competition rather than a chance to interact with real people and get to know them. Fine if that's true, but don't psych out your interviewees by making that the first thing out your mouth.
After the interview, they said I could email them if I had any questions whatsoever and they would be happy to respond. Also said a decision should be made by the end of the week (in the next 2-3 days). If they can't even respond to a thank-you note, they definitely are not going to answer any questions. The position start date has already passed and I still haven't heard anything. I get that I clearly was not in the Top 2, but you would think that they could bother to send out a simple rejection email. There were a small number of candidates for the position since they were trying to select someone in less than a week. It would have taken less than 10 minutes to write up an email, proofread it, then copy/paste to the candidates. The fact that they don't even treat applicants with enough decency to respond to emails and formally reject them is ridiculous. We're not just tools.
