Interview
Stay away!
During my recent interview for a Business Development Representative position at American Management Services, I encountered several issues that significantly impacted my perception of the company:
Lack of Transparency:
- The interviewer was not forthcoming when I asked about the company's sales approach. Despite my attempts to clarify that I was only seeking a high-level overview, not proprietary details, the interviewer refused to provide any information, insisting it was reserved for the "first week of training." This lack of openness was concerning as it suggested a possible disconnect between how the company presents itself externally and its internal communication practices.
Perceived Hostility from the Interviewer:
- The interaction with the interviewer became increasingly uncomfortable as they appeared dismissive and borderline hostile when pressed for more information about the sales process. This demeanor is unsettling as it may reflect broader management attitudes that could affect daily work life and employee morale.
Misleading Advertising Regarding Compensation:
- The job was advertised with a starting pay of $20 per hour, which seemed appealing. However, it was only disclosed during the interview that this rate would be reduced to $15 per hour after the initial three weeks. This significant detail was not mentioned upfront in the job listing, highlighting a lack of transparency in their recruitment process.
- **Overemphasis on Founder:**
- The company's promotional materials, including its website and physical décor, focus heavily on the achievements of a non-active founder, with a notable absence of information about current team dynamics, employee culture, or organizational values. This skewed focus suggests a possible stagnation in the company’s development and a lack of engagement with current employee needs and contributions.
Physical Representation of Founder's Dominance:
- The presence of a large mural of the founder’s face in the lobby is a visual representation of the company’s continued emphasis on past over present. This could be indicative of an environment that does not foster innovation or new ideas, potentially stifling growth and development.
These elements combined to create a concerning picture of American Management Services, suggesting that it may not be the best environment for employees seeking a transparent, supportive, and forward-thinking workplace. This experience has led me to reconsider my interest in pursuing a position with the company.

Question 1
We know it says $20 an hour but that is only for training and the pay will drop to $15 an hour once you start, is that okay?

Interview
Talked with a recruiter at Hirepalooza 2023 in Orlando. The most positive experience ever. Received an email that the recruiting manager wanted to meet me for a face to face interview. She was incredibly polite, professional but most importantly honest and transparent on what to expect. Was offered a job on the spot.

Interview
Two interviews - once with a recruiter and once with the call center manger. Both seemed motivated and friendly. Very professional. Both very up front about the expectations of the job. They asked some personal questions and professional questions. They seemed equally interested in if I would fit in that type of work environment and how professional I would be.
