Was referred by an employee for a specific position. I recieved an email invitation to submit application to a different, much more senior position. I didn't apply, but a day later a hiring manager called to schedule an onsite for a different position, since the original one was already closed. They arranged free guest parking. The interviewer was very friendly and the interview was easy, but they told me they still don't have confirmation to fill this position with someone outside the company. It turned out to be a waste of time, since they ended up filling the position with a current employee, a week later I recieved a generic rejection email.
