I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon Web Services (Melbourne) in Jul 2022
Interview
The interview process is thorough and involved. The focus is heavily on the Amazon Leadership Principles and revolves around S.T.A.R interviews.
There was a preliminary screening before an interview with the hiring manager. From there there were 'LOOP Interviews' whereby you do 4-5x hour long interviews with established 'Amazonians' who will ask you three or so open experiential questions where you are to flesh out long and detailed answers (using the STAR framework). The Amazonians will look for fit with the Amazon Leadership Principles in your answer.
At the end of all of your LOOP Interviews a decision will be made on whether you are offered a position.
Conceptually this is a good way to judge character and attributes, but it can be pretty difficult as you are put on the spot with very specific questions that you can't really prepare for. I was asked a couple of left field questions which I didn't have examples readily available, and so to try and flesh out throwaway answers into STAR calibre answers was challenging.

Question 1
Give me an example of time when you used to data to come to a decision. They ALWAYS ask the follow up "What could you have done differently" so make sure you haven't prepared just on how to answer the question itself, but also what you would have done different upon introspection
