Had an unprofessional call with the in-house recruiter.
The conversation started by asking some questions to determine how old I am (e.g when did I leave University and Secondary school, despite the fact that I have >9 years relevant experience so am evidently not a recent graduate), and also asked about my country of origin.
We read my CV together. They then asked what I was looking for in a position, and finally what my salary expectations were. For the latter, I mentioned the salary I'd been put forward for in other companies, and that I'd consider the overall package + benefits when making a decision.
In response, they made a huff/tut sound and informed me that the other industries I've applied for are "backwards", that Altius only hire the best of the best and that they cannot consider my application as I don't have experience in the right tech stack.
That's not a problem in itself - I'm not going to be a good fit for every company, and vice versa. But my CV is extremely clear, so I'm not sure why they called me if they're looking for someone with different skill set.
It was a very awkward experience.
