Just got hired early in 2023. The whole process took around a little more than a month during the holiday season of 2022. All of my interviewers were super empathetic and they really give you a chance to explain your story to the best of your ability. From what I can remember, I was initially approached by a recruiter after having applied. The first interview was a behavioral interview, with my career goals and what I'm looking for in my next job and some various STAR questions. The second interview was a technical interview with 2 engineers for one round (1 easy-medium question in 45 min), a behavioral round for 30 ish min, and a system design interview with 2 engineers. The last interviews were a cross functional interview with an engineer and a PM. They asked pretty tough questions that got me thinking and very situational ones. I would recommend brushing up on your communication skills because I stuttered a lot and thought I did pretty poorly here. The second half of the last interview was a conversation with the hiring manager. It was a 15 min behavioral interview followed by a technical deep dive on any project you chose. Be prepared to answer any questions, from high level to low level, as well as how you planned for scaling, reliability, availability, etc. as well as CAP theorem considerations. Finally at the end you have 15 min to have any of your questions asked. I also had a chill conversation with the CTO. He gave me 30 minutes to ask any questions I wanted. Come prepared to show your interest in Alma!! The recruiters did a WONDERFUL job. I think that my only complaint was being scared that I would get ghosted because some people have been talking about getting ghosted on Glassdoor after being rejected. It was a trend that I was concerned about when I read all of the previous reviews. I would follow up after interviews with no response until a day, two, or I think at worst three days later. I understood this as they were simply busy during the holiday time, which is completely understandable. I never got ghosted and am very thankful for that! All in all a very awesome experience. Empathetic, caring, and very positive interviews for all of them.
