      Consultant Interview

      Nov 29, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Alchemmy (London, England) in Nov 2017

      Interview

1st round - Senior Consultant 2nd round - Director 3rd Round - Case study and 2 Directors 4th round - CEO I had 4 face to face interviews, (the first one really should have been a phone call), at the 3rd interview I was asked to complete a case study and present back my findings. The 4th round was with the 2 CEOs. Every interview went well and I liked all the consultants I met, until I met the CEOs. It felt rushed and they just didn't engage with me on a personal level, no smiles, no interest in me as a person. I had really high hopes until my final interview. The first 2 interviews were practically the same (salary expectations, same competency questions, notice period etc) so I really think it should have been 3 rounds. Maybe they lost my notes... I got an email saying I was unsuccessful as they had other candidates with "relevant experience" - how do you get to final round interview with the CEO with no relevant experience! Seems like a cop out...lucky me as I had already accepted another job offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Alchemmy (London, England) in Feb 2022

      Interview

The process involved 3 interviews, one of which was a presentation, followed by a final interview round with directors. The interview teams were engaging an I enjoyed the process, especially the presentation exercise.

      Consultant Interview

      Apr 27, 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Alchemmy in Feb 2021

      Interview

The interview process is made of 3 rounds. Round 1: Informal introductory chat with a consultant for Alchemmy to find out a bit more about me and me about them. Some competency questions asked ('Tell me a time you worked with a difficult client?') but this is more of a screening stage overall. Round 2: This was a competency and case study interview (90 minutes) with 2 Managers. The first 60 minutes is the competency part of interview but it felt more like a genuine 2-way conversation. Standard competency questions were asked (Tell me a time you delivered under pressure etc) but these were embedded in the conversation making it an enjoyable and engaging experience. The case study was a presentation/storyboard to prepare and present back - followed by a Q&A (total 20-25 minutes). Round 3: Culture fit and experience-based interview with the MD & one of the Founders. This stage is more focused on unpacking your consulting experience and gaining a deeper understanding of your previous roles and where you would fit in. This was also great opportunity to gain insight into Alchemmy's strategic direction from the business leaders. The interview process was overwhelmingly positive as the team was engaging and approachable at each stage of the process. The culture of the firm really came across throughout. I was also given the opportunity to have an ad hoc chat with one consultant about a project she had worked on in an area of interest - which I felt was a great initiative. Minor suggested point of improvement - streamlining communication between the interview rounds.

      Question 1

What do you want to be known for as a consultant? When did you have to work with a difficult client? How did you manage the relationship? Which tools and techniques have you applied on previous consulting engagements?
