      Office Coordinator Interview

      Mar 4, 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Seattle, WA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ActX (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

Although my initial interactions with the company were pleasant, my interview with the CEO was shockingly bad. He asked illegal questions during the interview process, and seemed very concerned with finding out my age. "I'm just trying to calculate how many years since you graduated from high school, and what the gap is between college and your first job?" When I deflected the question and asked, "is there an underlying concern that I can address?" the CEO became hostile. He repeatedly asked for my salary history, which is also illegal in Washington State and not something that I'm required to reveal. I again deflected politely, and the CEO said, "it looks like you're avoiding answering questions and hiding things about your background." I received a follow-up Zoom call from the COO to clarify what had happened during the interview. I clarified, was asked for references from my current employer in order to make an offer, and then was never followed up with. The company has been posting the Office Coordinator position 2-3 times a day for the last several months, and I've been told that the CEO's former assistant left the company because she couldn't tolerate his hostility and abuse. One of the least professional experiences I've had with interviewers. I also jeopardized my standing with my current employer in the midst of unprecedented tech layoffs, because ActX told me they were moving forward. I followed up to ask about the status and was told "someone will contact you." But no one bothered to call. The interview process itself was disrespectful and a huge waste of time. They continue to post the job several times a day. Just save yourself the time and headache.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How many years have passed between your going to high school and attending college? What year did you graduate from college? How many years passed between college and your first job? How much money did you make at each of the positions listed on your resume?
