The overall process is good. However, it highly depends on what lab you are interviewing. It would be better if you already have some background. I would suggest to read the paper published in the lab that you are interested in.

I connected with PI throughout the whole interview process. I sent my CV and was directly interviewed by the Principal Investigator at Academia Sinica in September 2022. The PI was really nice and the interview was quite comfortable.
