      Senior Manager Interview

      Jun 15, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Veldhoven
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at ASML (Veldhoven) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Initially I had 2 phone interviews for screening. It took about 10 days and was the normal salary type of questions. Second one was the generic background experience questions etc. Next stage was to be interviewed with 2 people via phone, but only one person called me about 2 weeks later. The interviewer was travelling in their car most of the time during the interview as I could hear the indicators clicking. (I doubt a copy of my CV was available to read as they spoke to me.) Interviewer was unable to link or ask questions on my skills/past experience to the post (maybe as in the car?) and I had to constantly bring them to their attention to match the post. The interviewer had a short time experience within semiconductor whereas I had numerous years, so they couldn't even match generic problem scenarios or questions to test my skills/experience. Interviewer was unable to address previous departmental problems or what the upcoming challenges or goals would be in the next 3/6 months. I was told that was the responsibility of the Director and only that person could answer those questions. At the end of interview I was told that I would be informed in the next week to possible progress. After 2 weeks with no news I called the HR person for an update. They told me that no one in ASML had committed to an update within a week and accused me of lying. I was then immediately told that I was an unsuitable candidate and that the interviewer sensed a lack of focus in one of my answers. I found that somewhat ironic and explained that the interviewer had called whilst travelling in a car and couldn’t answer departmental future goals, I was told by the HR person that was unlikely and no one in ASML would act like that. As an experienced senior manager who has experience in managing professionals at a global level and managed both the hiring/firing of staff, I found this whole experience to be totally unprofessional both from the HR person and the interviewer.
