After applying online for a posted position, I was called in for an interview. The interview lasted around one hour in a little cubicle with a person who was in the same position I was applying for. Within a week, I received a call asking me to fill in on a temporary (freelance) basis editing course materials. I accepted. During the freelance assignment, it was unclear whether I was being considered for the posted job (which was a permanent position). Throughout the freelance assignment, the job remained posted on the company website. I assumed that once the freelance project was completed I would enter into a more formal interview and selection process but by the time the freelance job was completed someone else had been hired for the permanent position.
