      Senior Salesforce Engineer Interview

      Sep 15, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at ASCAP (New York, NY)

      Interview

Pros: The recruiter was responsive, and the initial feedback after the first round Zoom call was positive and encouraging. Cons: The entire process felt unprofessional and disorganized. All communication, including scheduling for a senior level role, was handled over text message. I had to proactively follow up multiple times just to receive the meeting invitation for the onsite technical round, which was never sent directly by the company. This disorganization culminated in the onsite interview. It was scheduled as a 30 minute whiteboard session, but one of the interviewers arrived 15 minutes late. With only half the time remaining, it was impossible to code a proper solution, and I was rushed through a verbal explanation before the session abruptly ended. The technical discussion itself was unproductive, as the interviewer insisted on a hypothetical solution that was fundamentally at odds with Salesforce platform limits; a major red flag. Ultimately, the vague feedback that my 'coding abilities were not up to par' felt baseless, as I was never given a fair opportunity to demonstrate them. Advice to Management: Your interview process is a reflection of your company culture. Please streamline your communication and scheduling. Critical information like interview invites should be sent promptly and directly from the company, not handled via last minute text messages. Ensure your interviewers are punctual and prepared. Rushing a candidate through a botched technical screen is disrespectful and prevents you from making an accurate assessment.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was given a scenario about processing a dataset that would exceed the 50,000 record SOQL limit. The interviewer specifically challenged the use of a standard batch job for this, and instead, insisted that it could be handled more effectively by using SOQL subqueries.
