      Logistics Interview

      Sep 16, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atherstone, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Atherstone, England) in Sep 2016

      Interview

Involved maths and spelling tests before applying. Then a further assessment which involved an attention to detail test, a maths test and an anaytical exercise. I was then invited to an interview with two employees. The interview was more like an interrogation. They questioned everything I said- I came out questioning my own name! They were both incredibly brutal and really drummed in that Aldi is a brutal place to work! Usual interviews should actually make you WANT to join the company, but all I could think about was how quick I'd like to get away. It sounds like a very negative environment to work within. They'd say things such as "you worked late at your old job?" (me thinking this displays a good working ethic, that you're happy to work hard and do more than you need to) but his reply was "well you're obviously not good enough. At Aldi we don't work late, we're just efficient, which you're obviously not so you'll have to change". Wow. Also, the less senior of the two employees asked an array of, in my opinion, very inappropriate questions. "So do you live with your boyfriend, what does your boyfriend think of you applying to Aldi, but do you not think that this job would affect your personal life?" What on earth has my boyfriend or relationship situation got to do with my skills and experiences for the job. I'm not sure if he was trying to phish for my current life plans and whether I was planning on having a family anytime soon, but I really came away from the interview feeling uneasy about what I'd been asked. If there's one good thing to come from this negative experience, it's that every interview from now on will fill like a doddle!! The feedback that I'd received was also quite brutal. They mentioned that I was confident, had the right skills and experiences, however as I was unable to finish uni (due to family issues and completely out of my control- which they knew..) and I'd recently returned from travelling, I was obviously just going to use them as a platform and wasn't commited to the role. Err right ok.
