I applied and got an email from a recruiter within a day or so. I’m then set up with my first interview rather quickly with the director of this small department.
We get on the Teams call and the manager keeps her camera off the entire time. So I’m just looking at a video of myself, talking to myself basically. No big deal though. I pass this interview and I’m told that she wants me to meet her team, which consists of only two other people.
I get set up for the team member meeting through the recruiter, where I blocked off 1 hour of time, 30 minutes for each person.
This... kid gets on the interview, barely out of school, hardly any work experience, and he practically brags about how his dad got him the job. He then proceeds to ask me STAR format questions: “Tell me a time when xyz”. Which is fine, I answered those well, remaining polite, but it seemed inappropriate for this kind of meeting that was pitched to me as an introduction to the team. It honestly rubbed me the wrong way.
I got a better job offer during this poor interview process. So I kept AHEAD as my back up. The recruiter I worked with extended the time frame of when I’d hear back about 3 different times whenever I sent follow up emails. I eventually told him never mind, I’ve already taken another job.
