I applied through university. The entire process was a good experience. I was interviewed at ABB Banglore.Consisted of five rounds.
Round 1: Online test- 50 questions in 60 minutes.Purely technical. Be thorough with concepts of electrical engineering. Go through previous years GATE papers to get a good idea.
Round 2: Technical Interview-Questions based on projects,power system protection and other technical work carried out. Be thorough with electrical fundamentals. Went on for 45 mins.
Round 3: Behavioral Interview- The HR will ask you around 12 questions regarding life experiences, failures,achievements etc. Be honest. They can easily find out if you lie. Went for 50mins.
Round 4: Presentation- A very tough round. Need to present a business case study in a chart paper. You will have 10 mins to explain your ideas. No Q&A.
Round 5: Group Discussion- A general topic. You will be monitored by 10 HRs in the GD from every angle. Don't dominate. Be polite, and contribute valuable points. If possible try to conclude the GD.
ABB is not like other companies. You need to prepare well and be formal. All the rounds are important.

It was easy. Highly organized and responsive. Appreciate the ease of hiring. The interview was conducted in friendly environment. I was asked technical questions and was given time to respond and think.
Capacitor basics and generation, transmission, and distribution basic questions were asked
MOSFET. IGBT, SCR working and testing questions and the working of different types of DC and AC MOTORS were asked

Known as Graduate Assessment Center a mix of technical interviews and written exam, technical interview, Group Discussion and a personal interview. Interview happens in person in Bangalore for students from all over the country.
