Horrible pay, mediocre management that gets bonuses if you push credit cards but you get no incentive, benefits and hours are skimped if you are part-time
They pretty much always pay minimum wage, not even 5 cents more, leaving low incentive to pick it over other retailers. Also, no room to earn additional bonuses or tips to keep us motivated.
Scheduling is flexible which is nice while being in school
Cons
Upper management only cares about customers signing up for credit cards and they will only treat you with respect if you shill their card. They get mad if you arent meeting your goals even if it is clearly evident that you were trying your best because lower numbers means that management doesnt get their bonus. As a CEC I was expected to train the cashiers to slave away at the register to get customers to sign up even though we did not get any part of the bonus that management gets.
You end up working for 2 Stores TJ Maxx and Home Goods. Everyone is pushed to be a cashier. The store is very busy with all efforts on selling credit cards because that's how managers get their bonus. Nothing is given to the cashier or the sales staff. Place is a revoling door.
