A very good experience for a new graduate

      Artwork officer
      Former employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      1. Friendly and tight-knit team, mentors that I have met here were knowledgable and willing to teach me, thus I have expanded my knowledge immensely in the field. Manager was also very kind and easy-going. 2. Generous benefits : above-average annual leave entitlements, comprehensive insurance coverage 3. Nice working environment at ICC: sweeping view of the sea, spacious seating, sanitized washroom 4. Considerate work arrangements: Flexible hours, work from home, early release

      Cons

      1. A lot of changes may take place unexpectedly and the HK office may not be informed promptly. So sometimes the whole team were caught off guard and brought about inefficiency. 2. The prospect of the industry may not be that promising, I guess, as it largely hinges on the European economy. 3. It seems the management is only resorting to cutting back on the employee benefits to drive down the overall cost. Even the Christmas Party was held on the pantry for 2 consecutive years.

      Pros

They have invested in a beautiful new building at HQ with gym, restaurant, coffee bar, etc. On boarding was very good, clear training plan with plenty of time spent with line managers and peers to learn the ropes. The people you work with are focused, driven and talented and inspire you to want to be the best you can be. If you enjoy working hard and being part of a team you will love working here! Flexible working arrangements, WFH common, managers trust you just to get on with your work. Friendly and pleasant working environment although don't expect a buzzing atmosphere, this suits me well as I prefer not to be distracted

      Cons

Some of the IT systems are a little bit clunky. Work flow is very fast paced so if you get overwhelmed easily by millions of emails, this won't be for you!

      Pros

I met some great people at this company. Most of them left during my tenure. I got to work from home 2 days a week. If you are willing to put in the hours, and be a company drone then you will progress. When you prove you can do your job you will be recognised but only on management terms Pay is very good. Holiday after service is good

      Cons

Work life balance isn’t a thing If your face doesn’t fit neither will you. Don’t have an opinion that isn’t your line managers. Don’t make one mistake and own up to it because you will be dismissed Others your line manager especially will pretend to have your back but actually will not. Your ideas will be used but you will not get the credit and if you do it will be short lived. Micro management is a problem. Diversity is very lacking. Other absence policy not great but I read this has changed recently

Strictly Entry Level - DO NOT STAY

      Admin assistant
      Former employee

      Recommend

      Business outlook

      Pros

nothing. The best thing I did was leave.

      Cons

I do not recommend staying at Lidl for an extended period of time. The team I worked with was small and close-knit, which was a positive aspect of the job. However, my experience with my line manager was less favorable. They often displayed an egotistical attitude and became frustrated if tasks were not completed to their exact expectations, sometimes accusing me of making excuses or not being proactive, even when the work seemed insignificant. While the option to work from home (WFH) is a benefit, I advise against overexerting yourself for this company. Advancement opportunities appear limited despite claims to the contrary, particularly for those not in analyst or senior manager roles. I noticed a preference for assigning challenging tasks to assistants, while others were promoted more readily. Additionally, if you do not speak a second language, you might feel less regarded. There's also a noticeable aversion to American labor politics, which could impact the company's future. Promotional meetings often felt repetitive and lacked clear direction, making them long and exhausting. Similarly, presentations were highly scrutinized to ensure perfect slide displays, but these skills may not be transferable to other roles. I suggest considering Lidl as a temporary opportunity rather than a long-term commitment. For young professionals, it can be a place to learn new skills, but it may not be the best place to grow your career. The best part of my job was leaving. Good Riddance

      Pros

A paper free company, with generous benefits

      Cons

Lidl offered all office employees to work from home many people even relocated because of this now able to live somewhere more affordable while still working. After a year they changed that. Let everyone go that couldn’t come back into the office
