What is the salary like at Lidl?

      Lidl reviews

      Poor Management, Unachievable targets, Nepotism

      Deputy store manager
      Former employee
      Bridgend, Wales
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Perceived pros are - salary and pay rise amount (ÂŁ2000 per annual), the reality is per hour on a 50 hour per week contract managers in any other more established supermarkets with better work life balance, management and CSR pay the same.

      Cons

Push unrealistic targets for profit, Awful people management at all levels, Hard working people, good at the job are passed over and poor managers are instated instead, Nepotism throughout the stores, regions, and departments, No work life balance due to poorly managed and unfair rotas, Manager forced to work over 50 hours weeks regularly and if they do not they are chastised and punished retroactively through bullying and ostracising behaviour. No appropriate absence management system resulting manager having to cover all absences regardless of personal life. Over time hours in lieu can not be taken by choice they are forced upon employees when it is suitable for the management. Expected to be available to work 24/7 and expected to resolve issues with opening, closing and alarm call outs at stores without pay, during holidays, days off or in the night after finishing a 10-12 hour shift. Poor health and safety due to unrealistic time contestants, health and safety and welfare checks from upper management become tick box exercises.

      Pros

      Cons

      Working with people, unclear processes

Good pay but bad upper management and they expect ALOT

      Deputy store manager
      Current employee
Barnsley, Yorkshire and the Humber, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good pay, good mix of people and no shift is really ever the same.

      Cons

Micro management from upper management basically just come and rip your store to shreds tell you you’re doing a crap job and leave. They never tell you to your face though. Also they aren’t flexible with hours particularly over the festive period where they’ve assigned set shifts for salaried managers.

      Pros

Decent pay, great benefits and a wonderful HR team

      Cons

There is no incentive to being a hard worker, people who don’t pull their weight get away with doing the bare minimum while others have to pick up their slack and no disciplinary action is taken against these low performers. Very inadequate staffing and recently even as a full time employee I do not even get scheduled the bare minimum of 32 hours, this has affected all of the full time people at this location. There is no communication from higher management but write ups are given out like candy to those who go above and beyond daily.
