We've dug into regional data as part of our microsellers guide (https://ow.ly/MxYO50ThxZg), discovering that over half (53%) of Brummies surveyed aged 16+ are reselling items on second-hand online marketplaces. Our survey found that ‘microsellers’ in Birmingham are earning an average of £184 each a year, with over three quarters (77%) having started in the last 5 years. With the sharp rise in second-hand selling online, we have seen customer-to-customer volumes surge by more than 200% in the last two years.
We're incredibly proud of our colleague, Simon Chave, CIO, who has been named in the 'Top 100 IT Leaders in the UK' by 'Computing'. The final 100 are chosen based on a variety of factors, including leaders that have made the most outstanding contributions to their sector and industry overall. Simon boasted a lengthy IT leadership pedigree even before joining hashtag#Yodel in 2020. He has been a key member of the tech leadership team since joining, and has led a series of digital transformation initiatives to enhance e-commerce, customer service and operational capabilities across the business.
As part of our #OutsideTheBox series, which takes a look at what our colleagues get up to outside of Yodel, check out our Customer Experience Manager, Emma Drever, who lifted a car last weekend. 🏋♀️ Emma has been training hard and managed 14 reps on the day. A truly impressive achievement 👏
Say hello to our #Huyton depot! ⭐ Following a record year with increased volumes, we've opened a brand-new 162,000 sq. ft. depot in Huyton. Mike Hancox, CEO here at Yodel, commented: “We are delighted to have opened our new depot in Huyton, a key step in expanding the business. This investment in the Northwest builds on our existing presence in the region, which will support our retail clients and their customers, ensuring we can continue to meet demands as the ecommerce market continues to grow.”
Happy International Women's Day! Today we are recognising International Women’s Day by speaking to some of our Lead Team Managers within our Operations Team about their passion for parcels, how they came to work in logistics and any challenges they have overcome as a female in the industry.
