This week, we were fortunate to be joined by two National Medal of Technology and Innovation Laureates, Dr. Paula Hammond Cunningham and Dr. Victor Lawrence, in a fireside chat moderated by our own Dr. Vindell Washington. Laureates are recipients of our nation's highest honor for exemplary achievement and leadership in science and technology. At Verily, we mirror their commitment to innovating healthcare and technology. Both guests gave valuable advice for turning a transformative idea into a reality. “When it comes to solving a problem, allow yourself to believe in your voice. Collaboration and sharing are a big part of the process.” - Dr. Hammond “People should help each other. You always have to stand on someone’s shoulder to see far.” - Dr. Lawrence
Verily is applying purpose-built healthcare AI technology, including large-language model (LLM) capabilities, into patient journeys and customer workflows using quality and security by design principles to ensure safety and effectiveness. 🚨10 key insights from ViVE 2025 on joining the dots to deliver precision health 🚨 Erich Huang, Verily Associate CCO of Clinical Informatics, sat down with Tina Tan from FirstWord HealthTech to discuss Verily Lightpath, our intelligent chronic care solution to help members manage their health, and the importance of designing tools that lighten the burden for patients and clinicians. “Clinicians are already overwhelmed. AI will be useful in summarising massive data streams from monitoring systems into actionable insights, providing clinicians with reliable, concise recommendations.”
“We are very pleased to provide members living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes with more personalized care through Verily’s Onduo program. Onduo delivers precision care at scale with the smart deployment of people and technology. “We care for a person, not a diagnosis. Using evidence-based medical care and data, Onduo customizes health journeys that holistically address stressors, nutrition challenges, and pain points for a healthier lifestyle, while optimizing medication use and managing coexisting conditions such as hypertension and high cholesterol.” - Vindell Washington, Verily Chief Clinical Officer & Head of Health Equity
At ViVE this week, Verily’s Erich Huang discussed the need for robust data and measurement to drive health equity. “Determinants of health are a large factor in people's health. Yet, even in spite of existing efforts to start asking and discerning those questions in the EHR, there's a lot of opportunity for us to really dig into that dimension of how we understand people."
Fitfully named the care team, Verily clinical experts are at the very heart of our virtual diabetes management programs.
