Today is about celebrating the remarkable men who shape our communities and inspire others. Happy International Men's Day!
September 30th marks the National Truth and Reconciliation Day. It is an opportunity for us to reflect upon the tragic legacy of the residential school system in Canada and its lasting impact on Indigenous communities and our society. It is important to acknowledge the past, listen to the voices that need to be heard and work together for a future built on respect and understanding. Wendy McKay, payroll and benefits administrator, and Ryan Zastre, district manager at Wireless etc. share their story on their Indigenous heritage. Wendy shares the story of her childhood, her hopes for new generations of Indigenous people, and the impact of residential schools on her family. Ryan shares his story as a Metis and the importance of bringing awareness to his Indigenous heritage. On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Wendy and Ryan encourage us all to start with education, understanding, and dialogue that lead to greater awareness and healing.
