Our Women@tsmc employee resource group recently hosted an engaging fireside chat with Dr. Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, and Lora Ho, Senior Vice President of TSMC. They discussed the importance of inclusive leadership, embracing challenges and seeking opportunities to make a difference. They also touched upon the partnership between both companies to advance new technologies.
Sustainability is a top priority at TSMC, and we're excited to announce that we've been able to reduce carbon emissions by more than 90%. How? We've partnered with a silicon wafer supplier to develop a slurry-free slicing method by slicing silicon wafers using diamond wire and water versus copper wire and silicon carbide slurry. We're thrilled to launch TSMC's "Eco Plus! Ecological Harmony Program" in partnership with Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture and numerous other organizations to foster environmental sustainability. Through our program, we'll be promoting eco-friendly farming, building biodiversity corridors for habitat restoration, conserving endangered species, supporting ecological scholars and expanding environmental education.
Caring about our planet is top of mind. We recently implemented 2,435 high-efficiency transformers in 12 fabs as part of our green manufacturing initiative and in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7. This allowed us to save 66 million kWh of electricity and reducing carbon emissions by 32,000 metric tons.
Innovation soars when skilled employees from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to bring their ideas to the table. To foster a more inclusive work environment, we've launched a six-month "Accessible Workplace Experience Camp" involving occupational therapists in the recruitment and job redesign process to help integrate talent with disabilities into the workplace. So far, 166 participants have benefited from our program. Click to learn more.
With plans to build our third fab in Arizona, TSMC's investment in the state now totals more than $65B as we commit to producing the most advanced semiconductors in the U.S. We're always looking to hire top talent. Join us.
TSMC wrapped up the North America Tech Symposium in Santa Clara last month! Since 1994, we've been uniting global leaders in the semiconductor industry to discuss pioneering technologies and trends. This year, at the dawn of the AI era, our symposium presented a roadmap of AI's future. As the world’s most advanced AI runs on the world’s most advanced silicon with TSMC’s 7 through 4-nanometer technologies, we demonstrated how TSMC, as a silicon leader, powers AI and unleashes innovation. ICYM: Watch our recap video to relive the past 30 years of the event. As we move into the next 30 years, we'll go together, venturing beyond what we believe is possible!
