Meet Tangela Kenan, Human Resources Benefits Specialist. The Sunstates corporate HR team welcomed Tangela in November 2023. She brings many years of experience in varying roles to support her duties in her new position. Her experience in benefits administration, project management, HR information systems, and employee benefits design made her the perfect fit for this role. Before joining Sunstates, Tangela worked as a Global HR Manager for a non-profit in Raleigh. There, her responsibilities comprised of ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and reviewing and modifying policies to maintain compliance. Prior, Tangela worked for over seven years as a Benefits Manager for the state. She recommended benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements, trends, and developments, as well as managing the benefits staff by coaching, counseling, and mentoring employees. Tangela is a servant leader with a high ethical compass who consistently leads by example.
