More than 1,100 children in the City of Durango are currently without licensed childcare. The Powerhouse Science Center is stepping in to help close that gap by transforming its Carlton Family Science Education Center into Bright Beginnings Early Learning Center, expanding access to reliable, STEM-based childcare for local families. Navigating Colorado’s detailed licensing requirements while creating age-specific classrooms designed for curiosity and exploration made this effort both complex and meaningful.
