Fresh air, teamwork, and a lasting impact. 🍃 At PowerCo, community engagement and sustainability go hand in hand. Our employees partnered with the City of St. Thomas to help create the new 1.2 kilometre Yarmouth Yards Recharge Trail, located in Yarmouth Yards just outside the future home of our Gigafactory. From clearing pathways to marking the trail, our team was proud to help create a space that will connect people with nature while supporting local biodiversity, outdoor wellness, and community connection for years to come. It is a meaningful example of how we are creating positive impact, both within our organization and throughout the communities where we operate.
What can 77 days in Germany teach you about building a gigafactory? A lot. During the assignment in Salzgitter, Russell supported factory ramp-up while capturing practical lessons to bring back to Canada. Working alongside global colleagues and leading key installation work, one thing became clear: being on site makes a difference. It improves communication, speeds up decisions, and builds stronger relationships. Russell has since grown into a broader role as Lessons Learned Project Manager, a great example of how international experience creates real development opportunities. Building a gigafactory takes global teamwork. Developing the people behind it is just as important. 🌍
Meet the ID. Polo - Powered by the Unified Cell. As a new member of the Electric Urban Car Family - alongside the new CUPRA Raval - electric urban mobility enters a new phase, combining efficiency, space and scalability for the mainstream compact segment. The ID. Polo is part of the Electric Urban Car Family, a new generation of electric vehicles designed to bring e-mobility into everyday life across Europe. At its core: battery technology designed to deliver what matters most in urban mobility - range, fast charging and efficiency. Congrats to the teams bringing the ID. Polo to the streets and advancing the Electric Urban Car Family.
🌍 On the occasion of #EarthDay, our team at PowerCo Canada spent some time outside together doing a cleanup in St. Thomas. It was a simple way to give back, but also a reminder of how small actions can add up when everyone shows up with the same mindset. Sustainability is a big part of what we do, but it also lives in moments like this, taking care of the communities we’re part of. Proud of this team 💚
🌱 Spring has barely arrived, but the PowerCo Canada gigafactory site in St. Thomas is already shifting into one of its most exciting and visible phases. With more than 155 loads of structural steel now on site, the project is officially moving from groundwork to vertical construction. “This is a turning point,” says Senior Construction Manager Allan Gadd. “This is when the facility truly starts to take shape.” Key structural components are staged, heavy equipment is in place, and steel installation for CP1 is well underway as activity accelerates into spring and summer. Despite changing weather and site conditions, the team remains focused on safe, steady progress. “Steel installation demands precision and strong communication,” Allan notes. “The crew is delivering exactly that.” In the weeks ahead, major sections of the facility will rise and the site will transform rapidly. As Allan puts it: “We’ve built the foundation. Now the structure begins.”
What happens when knowledge becomes connection, experience becomes growth, and everyday work becomes impact? At PowerCo, we see it every day. For #InternationalWomensDay we are highlighting three colleagues from Salzgitter, St. Thomas, and Valencia who exemplify what the #GiveToGain philosophy looks like in practice. At PowerCo, Give to Gain is part of our culture: It means sharing knowledge, opening doors for others, and creating opportunities for growth. When people contribute their expertise and perspective, the entire organization moves forward. Today is not about asking women to give more. It is about recognizing what they already contribute and making sure PowerCo creates the space where that contribution can grow and inspire others. 🙌 Women across our company contribute knowledge, innovation, leadership and connection every day. Our responsibility is to create the conditions where this contribution can thrive: with opportunities to grow, visible strengths, and environments that support equal development for everyone. Because when people grow, PowerCo grows too.
As we close out #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re reflecting the meaningful ways we honoured the impact of Black voices, stories, and achievements. At PowerCo Canada, we celebrated by learning from one another and recognizing the diversity that strengthens our teams. Our first BHM Lunch & Learn, hosted by Matilda Ankrah and David, brought colleagues together for thoughtful reflection, open conversation, and a deeper understanding of Black history and culture in Canada. We supported engagement throughout the month with limited‑edition BHM shirts, a digital asset toolkit, and interactive activities that encouraged continued learning and connection. We’re proud of our people and proud to foster a workplace where everyone feels seen, valued, and included.
A strong start to the year for #PowerCoCanada as building structures rise at the St. Thomas gigafactory! 🏗️ Work crews pushed through tough weather with a strong focus on safety and quality to kick off this next phase. Momentum is building as massive structural elements climb skyward, bringing our vision for next-generation battery manufacturing closer to reality. 🔋 Since foundation work began this fall, hundreds of local tradespeople have driven steady progress from groundwork to the structures now visible across the site. This state-of-the-art gigafactory will power Volkswagen’s electrification drive, create good-paying local jobs, and fuel long-term economic growth in the region. ⚡ Together we’re building more than a factory. We’re shaping the future of sustainable mobility.
First Shopfloor Workforce Onboard in Canada & Spain 👷♂️⚡🌍 PowerCo’s journey continues in Canada and Spain, with people at its core. In Canada, the initial cohort includes automation, mechanical and electrical maintenance technicians supporting the foundational build-up of the #StThomas site. In Valencia, the first production employees are joining as we build our Gigafactory and prepare for the next generation of battery cells. These teams are establishing the structures, processes and expertise that will shape our gigafactories from day one. As the sites develop, the teams behind them will grow alongside them.
