Within a few hours of planting that seed, flights were booked and the Playa del Carmen working-vacation was underway. Here's some good news to enjoy: our very own Lorraine has been promoted to Senior Front End Developer AND today is her 3-year workaversary! Lorraine joined Major Tom straight from BCIT and has been an unstoppable force on the development team serving on front end magic on every project she touches. She's built great sites for Denny's, FGPG, ICUC Social and so many more. We love how she shares weekly shower thoughts and cute videos of her fur babies on Slack. It certainly brightens up our work week! Congrats Lorraine!
When someone comes to us with a curious mind, we do our best to share the knowledge we've gained. After all, having a curious mind is one of our core values. Chris Breikss, a founding partner of Major Tom, often answers our DM's. When one user came to us for some expert advice on digital marketing, Chris provided them the information and then some. When they later came back for some more, Chris again shared his knowledge and provided a large range of resources to aid them. Then, a special delivery was made to the office. Our DM friend was so thankful for the advice they had received, they gifted Chris with a luxurious cake. It was such a sweet gesture and Chris (and the rest of us) were very touched by this. It serves as a reminder that what we have are people-to-people relationships and not agency-to-user. This is something that should never be forgotten in the business world. Plus, unbeknownst to our friend, the cake actually arrived on Chris' actual birthday! What a great way to celebrate!
As the CEO of Major Tom, balance for me means bringing strength and passion to the workplace while also creating a culture of comfort, vulnerability and support within our work family.
