A hearty congratulations to the M Team members and their families who braved a rainy and chilly spring Saturday on the Springwater Trail in Portland to participate in Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest's 2026 5K for Kids' Sake. Their individual fundraising efforts helped contribute to $23,000 raised to support local youth mentoring programs. As Black History Month concluded, we were grateful for the opportunity to learn from M Financial’s Regina Sims (fifth from right), who led a powerful session on the history and impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). From the founding of Cheyney University to the contributions of George Washington Carver, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B. Du Bois, Regina’s presentation highlighted the lasting influence of these institutions. HBCUs have long played a pivotal role in advancing social justice and expanding educational access.
