CHR hosted an incredible Black History Month event at Goodwin University filled with learning, reflection, music, storytelling, poetry, and soul food. CHR was joined by amazing performers, including: Lance Kamau James, a bandleader, performer composer, and manager in the music world; Andre Keitt, storyteller and Program and Education consultant with the Farmington Historical Society, Nzima Hutchings, Poet Laureate, owner of Every Kinda Lady, and independent teaching artist; and CHR’s LaShawn Middleton, LMSW, Outreach Therapist for Intimate Partner Violence, and poet. We were also joined by local Black-owned businesses, including Launch Clothing Store, Granny's Doggie Treats, Evolutionary Enterprises LLC, and Designs by Jackie, who hosted vendor tables at the event, as well as Destiny Awaits Restaurant & Jerk Center, Americansoul Kitchen & Bar, and Perfect Poundcakes, who catered delicious food.
