CSM Group and Lounsbury Excavating, Inc. co-hosted a Touch-a-Truck event at the Kalamazoo Country Club project site on Saturday. Seeing young children (and adults) getting hands-on experience with construction equipment was incredibly rewarding. These events can inspire and educate individuals about the various careers available in the construction industry. Engaging with the equipment and interacting with professionals in the field opens their eyes to the possibilities and opportunities for the future. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success and for helping shape the next generation of skilled workers.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being, we offer flexible work arrangements, wellness programs, and other initiatives aimed at supporting employees in achieving harmony between their professional and personal lives. As an employer committed to supporting active military personnel and veterans, we’re honored to share that our dedication has been recognized with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) award. This prestigious accolade underscores our unwavering commitment to those who have served our country and highlights our status of an employer of choice for individuals with military experience. Receiving the ESGR award is a testament to the comprehensive support programs and initiatives we’ve implemented and reflects our dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment where the unique skills, leadership qualities, and values instilled through military service are not only recognized but celebrated. We’re proud to have received the ESGR award, but more importantly, we’re proud to stand by our military personnel and veterans, providing them with the support, opportunities, and respect they deserve.
We held a safety stand-down at the Kalamazoo Country Club expansion project to discuss fall hazards and reinforce the importance of fall protection. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 395 of the 1,069 construction fatalities recorded in 2022 (Bureau of Labor Statistics data). Those deaths were preventable. This week is National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, and we encourage you to join us in helping to stop falls. Plan a toolbox talk or other safety activity, host a stand-down, and provide training for all workers.
We are nearing completion at Lakeview Middle School! Once complete, the new two-story addition will provide additional classrooms for 7th and 8th-grade instruction and a new library media center for grades 5th through 8th.
Happy Earth Day! Together, we can make a difference for a more sustainable and thriving future by making small, incremental changes. We’re celebrating today by distributing reusable grocery totes to all employees.
This week, we achieved a significant milestone on two projects in Michigan: signing Partnership Agreements with the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). These partnerships represent a joint effort to establish and raise safety standards and to hold ourselves and each other accountable for achieving them.
