Engineering Development Program salaries in Canada

I've spent around 20 years in my own businesses but switched to being employed, working full stack on government contracts for 4 years. Looking at making a switch to Engineering Manager or Tech Lead to use more of my varied professional expertise. Any pointers from employers or others in a similar role on how to make that transition? Is this something that can be interviewed into or do people expect to see any kind of training pathways before they consider an applicant?

Engineering Managers, what’s your day-to-day like? I’m thinking about next steps and hesitating between going the Tech route (principal, staff, architect), or the People Management one.

So I graduated as an engineer two years ago and currently work in construction sales with 2 years experience acquired. How possible is a move to an engineering or analyst role given my experience. Most hiring managers seek some form of experience that I’m unfamiliar with asides from university projects.

Experience is one thing along with knowledge is key, but over the past 5 years plus it seems companies want a one man show. (Especially small to medium ones). I know my limitations and skill set but that doesn’t mean I want to cram my head being a network engineer, server infrastructure engineer, email engineer, cloud engineer, etc. I understand how they all intertwine, but that’s too much for me as companies want it all and their pay scale isn’t anywhere it needs to be.
