A terrible company to work for

Pros

The only pro is that you can make very good money if working on the right project.

Cons

Zero communication from the higher ups. Everything important decision seemed to be made in secrecy by a small team. There did not appear to be any sense of accountability. Apart from the beginning, there was zero training. No realistic expectations set. It felt like a boys club for a small circle of people who make all the money. The sales floor is an old factory floor; it's dusty and you feel like you're in a slaughtering house. The elevator takes about 10 minutes to work, when it works at all. They boast about having an open door policy, which is a total lie.

Pros

On occasion the company will fly you out to Berlin for their Summer and Christmas parties. Although this is often a "slap in the face" as the Berlin office and team are a lot happier than the UK team and it clearly shows.

Cons

There are no perks to working here you get your basic salary and a commission on your sales. There is no healthcare, no pension and no added benefits. The company lacks a focus on employee development and offer little to no training and development. The management structure is ever changing and full of empty promises - like we will do training once a week (it never happens). The UK Managing Director is quite ineffective at looking after and motivating employees. His main concern is the revenue being generated and views the employees as a cost to the business not an asset. When we have made success on individual levels or as a team the usual quote is "yeah you should - why should you be recognised that is what I pay you for". The atmosphere is also very dependent on the mood of the Managing Director. He is often in a foul mood which keeps the whole team on edge and sets a nasty tone in the office. This often means that employees cannot be cohesive and collaborate, banter is also forbidden (a necessity in a sales environment). Banter usually resulting in an outburst from the MD "I pay you to work - so work or leave". The other serious con is that the office space is very small and actually quite uncomfortable to work. A team of 10-12 people are situated in an office no larger than 20 sqm. It is stuffy, has wires all over the office and quite dull. There are a few health and safety fails too in the UK office.
