Pros

- You get to work on interesting projects - Smart coworkers - Somewhat flexible work hours

Cons

- Terrible work life balance. You will get calls and messages from work on the weekends and have to work overtime without extra pay - Manager expects you to work the same hours and as hard as the India team. - If there's something you are stuck on, you have to get assistance from the India team. This can take anywhere from hours to a day - The manager and all the higher ups at the company have terrible manners and doesn't care for the employees. I've been part of multiple meetings where the higher ups talk down to newer employees, and even older employees. Basically a lot of finger pointing. - Not an ounce of origination in any of the projects. It's a mess. No proper documentations exists - Almost every project at the company was started by a certain person, and every change you make to the projects must go through him. - Meetings are never pre-planned. You'll have to wake up very early in the morning meetings with the India team, and it'd be cancelled on the spot. This has happened over 20 during my career at the company. - The Toronto office is the most under funded office, and they cannot even afford to purchase necessary items for a office to function. - New features are added to projects daily, and testing is never done. AVOID WORKING AT THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

Pros

Get to work with smart colleagues Learn cool stuff in different domains (CS and Bio) Very friendly and helpful HR

Cons

Concrete plans for engineering projects don't go beyond 1 week Priority shifting happens at least a few times a week (many times it happens daily) Claims to have an agile project management approach, but the most basic Agile project management tools and practices are not followed. For example, engineering managers have no clue how to use Jira, yet strongly believe that they use it properly. Lots of time is wasted in useless meetings (hours and hours a week). Lack of incentives and motivation. Engineering managers have no interest in improving employees; all they care about is delivering features (regardless of code quality) to higher-ups in the company. Basic CI/CD pipelines are nonexistent in highly critical production builds. Testing happens rarely. Merging code in master branches is taken very lightly (no integration tests are enforced in most repositories). Work-life balance is nonexistent unless you're willing to be a sub-average employee. Rarely feel appreciated by managers. TLDR; engineering managers are inadequate.
