Pros

The people made eCopy what it was, they were great. The products created a market where none existed before and even now are the best in market. Nothing comes close to eCopy's ShareScan or PaperWorks products in terms of ease of use, flexibility and work flow.

Cons

There was almost no room for upward movement or management opportunities. Upper management couldn't decide on a direction for the company or products. The results were deadlines and direction that changed almost weekly. In the end it caused the company's momentum to falter. The acquisition by Nuance was poorly handled and seems headed towards the termination of most eCopy employees and the degradation of the company's products.

Pros

Decent, well paying jobs are hard to come by in this economy - eCopy did the right thing by it's employees - but not with any inspiration - just what was necessary. I enjoyed the people I worked with - they made the job much better.

Cons

Lack of clear direction and decision making. Poor planning and resource allocation. A pervasive sense of frustration that needed a lot of humor to deal with it.

Pros

eCopy has done a very good job of staying in its leadership position in the document imaging space and spends a great deal of effort to maintain that position. The employees are very bright and are a pleasure to work with and learn from.

Cons

There is disagreement at the highest levels about future direction and it causes a lot of angst over change and lack of direction. There are too many moving parts that cause too many fire-drills and a lack of "ownership" of projects.
