Pros

Scientists and engineers doing the actual work are nice and smart. Reasonable salary. The occasional moments of innovation. Vancouver/Seattle are nice cities to be in.

Cons

Below average research, so limited learning. Senior scientific management are very difficult to work with. Career growth is discouraged, and if senior management thinks you are looking for other employment, they isolate you in some role without meaning. Loyalty must be absolute.

Zanidatamab is an excellent asset

Cons

- Talented & experienced group of scientists that developed Zanidatamab are no longer at Zymeworks - Senior Scientific leadership does not have the necessary drug development experience - Success of pipeline projects doesn't matter, company is treading water to get to a sale - CEO has no history developing medicine or building companies. His history is dominated by breaking apart and selling assets. - Former CFO, at least partly responsible for the cratering of the company, is allowed to remain and transition to COO. - Company still talks about its values as though they determine corporate behavior

Great culture, HR, environment, and a team-focused constructive dialogue among peers. Positioned for amazing growth in the biologics field.

Cons

Vancouver is a bit pricey. However this is a reflection on the current environment of real estate commoditization, not the company.
